Beginning in March, frozen black and frozen gray matte paint will be offered on the F10 sedan and F11 touring. This will represent the first time that BMW is officially offering the matte paint options for a non-M car.

The two matte paint options will be available with the F10 and F11 M-sport packages and will be available on all models of the F10 and F11. The special paint option will not come cheap however, estimated to be 3300 euros.

Related to this, below is a photo of a recently spotted matte black F10 5-series sedan. Could this be a BMW prototype of the upcoming matte paint option? Official or not, it gives us a preview of how the F10 will appear in frozen black paint!

I doubt that many people will choose this option, especially in a non-M. but I'm all for having more options

I'd go for it on the M5.

Being a detailing fanatic, I see no joy in these matte finish paints.... They always look the same, dirty or clean. I guess for some that may be the advantage, but for me, nothing beats the look freshly detailed gloss paint.

I think it's ridiculous. It looks unfinished. But what do I care.

This seems like a car wrap, but it could well be BMW indidvidual.... I doubt it though it would cost over 5000 euro here in the Netherlands.

These colours are confirmed by BMW. As of March you can order a few models in Frozen Black and Frozen Gray as a 'sonderwunschlackierung' optioncode 490. I think it's awesome!

But this is probably a carwrap. It's very popular in Holland at the time...

I don't know how to interpret this, so;

(i) if you mean the owner's profession is quite literally "a comedian" - so a man who earn's his living telling jokes, starring in a TV comedy show, etc.

(ii) or if you are having a crack at his taste in paint finish - as in a school boy comment "ha ha, what a comedian ... what a joker"

I think you mean (i) ... still ... could be either I suppose !!

Yup.. I still don't get why people like this matte color. It just ends up saving BMW $$$ for not finishing the paint on the car.

It needs a special car wash and polish for it, and as stated it NEVER looks right.
