With the production M5's likely reveal next month, F10 M5 FEP-stage prototypes are out testing in force. We bring you the best photos yet of an Alpine White FEP F10 M5 testing on the streets of Germany.

Although there's never been any suspense as to which car we've been spying, the M5 badge has finally been affixed to the prototype, giving it a more final-form feel and signaling just how close we are to seeing the production version.

Not much camouflage remains on the prototype M5s. The front bumper and rear diffuser clearly will resemble the ones seen on the F10 M5 concept revealed last month, but the center section on the rear diffuser appears different than the concept version (larger photo below), taking on a less sloped/angled design, perhaps to better cool the rear differential.

The mirrors and sideskirts seen on the M5 prototypes are different than those seen on the concept M5 and will be the versions debuting on the production M5. This particular prototype also features a different kidney grille than we've previously seen - chrome outline with black slats.

The new M5 will be powered by a tweaked version of the S63 V8 twin turbo motor from the X5M/X6M, good for more power than the M SUVs, but 25% more fuel efficient than the E60 M5. It will be offered with a 7-speed DCT transmission, as well as an expected manual transmission (perhaps for the US market only). An all-wheel-drive model will also be available at some point in addition to the standard RWD model.

I find it odd that they would put the ///M5 badge on....havent seen that before during testing. Especially when the BMW roundel is still covered up and will be for some time.

This is exactly how I would order the F10 M5, white on red...just like my current M6 and previous M3.

What interior color red is that?

Give them a little leeway man.

It's still a prototype. Once the M5 will be on production, bodyroll will be EXTREMELY minimal or no longer existing on this car.

Looks good though!

I'm curious to see how much a lease payment will be on this car...BMW residuals are killing the monthly payments, ESPECIALLY up north here in Canada. this is going to run at least $2500-$2600 a month in a 36 month lease...and I'm just not sure if its worth that much money.
$2500 x 36 months = $90 000 in lease payments, plus about $10 000 due on signing, you've paid $100 000 already, and theres still a buyout of about $50 000 at the end. CRAZY!

I agree. They are testing the M5 in the US too. I saw one with the same camo on and your statement is the exact thing that ran through my head.
