We've spotted a black F10 M5 prototype conducting some final testing. It wears a minimal amount of camouflage and the least amount of cover we'll see prior to seeing the production version. What you see is essentially the production version, including the mirrors and sideskirts which were not seen on the concept M5 model.

If you're tired of seeing spy photos of preproduction M5s, you won't have to wait much longer to see the production version. It will be revealed in just over two weeks time at the M Festival at the Nurburgring -- on the night of Thursday, June 23rd (German time). Stay tuned!

Looks great in black, can't wait to see the full specs. Those are some massive rear brakes...

+1 I can't stand them. I really hope they don't make it to production.

I guess I'll have to wait to drive one. But from driving the X6 ///M, I can say that I'm less than pleased with what this engine has to offer :/

I have seen all of the photos but for some reason it look super long for an M5. It could be the lens angle but that looks like a freaking boat!

Dislike list-

chrome side vents
Extra reflectors on rear bumper
Wheels

Like list-

Everything else...so far.

Looking absolutely gorgeous when coming from the F20 thread..... Balm for my eyes...

I really do hope they reduced the weight at least a bit...

Those side grille get more ugly every time I see them. With the E60 M5, it looked like the side grille was part of the body but with the F10, it looks like they slapped it on...really hope they do change it.

The regular F10 M Sport bumper has those as well. They are reflectors.

Reflectors are on the upper part of the rear bumper on msports and on the lower portion on non-msport.

I like all except the multispoke wheels and chrome side gills.

Give the 5 spoke wheels and a gloss black side gill and kidneys and I would say it is all set!

Just wait two more weeks! The M5 will be at the Ring's unveiling Thursday night. I will be there.

I can tell you I saw three M5's test mules driving around (you will see more soon) yesterday and the car is really georgous in person. It sounds very good too!

I quite like the reflectors higher up, further distinguishes the rear from the regular 5er. I noticed the M6 mule had them too, maybe a new M/M Sport trait?

So many people are saying the chrome side vents are a mistake, but BLACK wheels? That is just gross.

Are you comparing a heavier SUV profiled car, to a smaller lighter sedan, which have an increased powerplant onboard...?

Compare apples to apples, and give it a try first, before judging it will you, thanks!

It looks awsome btw.

I have driven an X5M. That car is a bloody rocket ship. Very impressive, handled like a much smaller/lighter car. That engine is ridiculous too, never feels like it is running out of steam, pulls like a Brad Pitt look a like at a night club.

I know it doesn't sound or handle like an M5 and I know it is a kind of pointless, over indulging sort of car. However, to say that you drove an X6M and were not impressed by how it could make a big, heavy SUV feel so nimble and go like an M3 in a straight line, is just ignorant.

Either you did not drive it enthusiastically at all or you live in a world where you drive Veyrons and Zonda's on a daily basis. If so, fair enough!
