We've stacked the F10 M5 (full specs/details) up against the E63 AMG and CTS-V, but there are other cars in the segment which warrant further comparison, namely the Porsche Panamera Turbo/S and the Jaguar XF-R.

This comparison covers cars from a wide range of prices - from $80,000 to $173,000, but on paper the performance specs and owner demographics are close enough to compare. Again, the real tests will come from test drives, reviews, and direct comparos of the M5 against its rivals.

Panamera turbos are too fast, however i dont understand the point of the Turbo S, 40k more just to be .2 seconds faster? is there more to it than just that?

exterior looks: XF-R>M5>Panamera Turbo. The first 2 contenders are balanced while Panamera Turbo is not - it looks as if it is from outer space:-)

interior: Panamera Turbo & XF-R are better than M5 cos the color combo provide more elegant touch.

For the first time, I cant really understand what happened here.... Im dissapointed in the M5's performance being stacked against Porsche.... I cant say Im happy with those results. But Its not my problem, Im not an M5 owner, so none of these can pull on me lol

Perfomance out of the picture, the M5 is the showstopper, its looks are 20 times better than its rivals. This car is as much as a sex symbol to me as Marylin Monroe was to the older gentlemen here. BMW M5 FTW.

pretty ignorant comment that you see often on pretty much every comparison threads on any forums.

so tell me, do you think you can achieve 0-60 2s car with 40k? whats was your expectation anyways? you can only do so much from 0-60 and this has been the case for all turbo s vs turbo for porsche. let alone other manufacturers.

So i see the M5 msrp is listed at an estimated $90-$100k.

Are they really going to charge that much more than the quicker E63?

That Panamera is so ugly, one of my neighbours has a black one.

But coming from a 5GT, he more or less has seen the light.

yes they will charge more than the quicker, yet overall worse performing - E63.

No way the M5 is $90-100k. Zero chance. Who is dreaming that one up

$120-130k minimum and it'll get higher with ceramic brakes and other options.

Wait for the sticker shock people, its coming...

The panamera may always have the jump going to 60mph from the awd. But there is not doubt in my mind the M5 can run with if not surpass the panamera's performance around a track, and accelerating from a rolling start.

The only reason you wouldn't get the Panamera Turbo S is because you can't afford it. It's more comparable to an S Class than the F10.

Panamera is such a weird-looking car though. Even non-car enthusiasts agree
