I actually like it. This M sports addition def. makes me want this car even more. It's very practical for a family with 2+ kids.

Better, yes, but still no replacement for the 5er Touring, which, BTW, the f11 murders the previous 5er Touring in aesthetics...
The new F11 is beautiful and would sell a boatload more than this 5GT in the US.

This car is just dreadful. I even prefer the Panamera to this thing. M-Sport will just make it less obvious

5er Gran Turismo is a euro-market-centric vehicle where it meets it's sales obligations. The car is also a strong seller in Russia and other Eastern European markets.

In Asia and especially China. 5er Gran Turismo is seen as a more exclusive choice to the domestic market 5er Li.
Let me get one thing clear again. 5er Gran Turismo is meeting it's projected targets for a low volume vehicle. Customers who have purchased the GT feel that the car meets their expectations and are happy with their choice.

Just because the 5er GT does not succeed in the USA does not mean the car fails elsewhere. Many seem to think that is the case. In regards to the F11 debate in the USA , Sales were not meeting projected targets, no one bought them even when people knew about them , and even when they were in the showrooms customers took the X5 instead.

Finally GT is not and is not intended as the media portray, a competitor to the Audi A7 , Mercedes-Benz CLS or Porsche Panamera. The specifics of the GT are worlds apart from those car's.

So the 6 series GT coupe will be the CLS/A7 competitor

Um... that is nonsense. It is unfathomable to base prior sales of the E61 as a reason to not bring the F11 over. There is no comparison. the E61 was BUTT ugly. The design barely worked as a sedan, but a wagon? No way.

The F11 looks amazing and would have sold a lot better.

How can BMW make the GT any more ugly? Add the sport kit to it.
Who drive wagon type of car these day? That's what the x5 is for.

I can't believe they are still making these UGLY cars, and that they are going to make a 3 series version as well. My dealer has had a 2010 on his floor for well over a year. They dropped the price 11K and still can't sell it. The thing looks like a once sleek sedan that got knocked up.

BMW intentionally uglied it up so that it would drive people into the upcoming grossly over priced 6 Series 4 door Gran Coupe. The Gran coupe will attempt to compete with the $25,000 cheaper Audi A7. The Audi A7 is here now and is getting great reviews. BMW dropped the 5er sport wagon in the US in a mindless attempt to drive those BMW Enthusiasts into the 5GT. What happened is that those BMW Enthusiasts in the US desiring a 5er wagon took a pass on the ugliest BMW in recent history and bought the MB wagon. Then Audi comes out with the incredibly beautiful Audi A7 making gross design shortfalls of the 5GT even more apparent. They price at a very reasonable number in relation to the 6er Gran Coupe and Audi has a huge hit. Meanwhile BMW looks for ways to ditch the 5 GT because the dealers won't stock them because very few people want an expensive, ugly car even if it is a BMW with a large cabin. BMW has made great product decisions in the recent past, however the 5 GT is a gross blunder. The upcoming Gran Coupe is being undercut by the beautiful, fairly priced Audi A7. Plus it will probably draw some sales away from the current 5 er for those who desire a really cool looking car.

Good points, however I think the A7 is just an OK design, nothing more than that unfortunatelly. I liked the concept a lot but somehow the production car turned out pretty mediocre and bland, not bad but not very good either. I think the 6er GC will easily blow it away, both in design as well as performance terms.

As for the 5er GT, this is not exactly a direct competitor to the A7 imo. The GT is not a low sitting 4-door coupe or anything. It has a high roofline, high glasshouse and the boot sits considerably high. More like a Mercedes R-Class than A7 competitor.

Having said that it is very expensive and sadly it doesn't look very good, no matter how well crafted it is and how well it drives. It could have been a lot more beautiful no doubt about that.

Whether it sells minimal amounts in some countries, it's still seen as ugly around the world. Every country hates the back end of this car. The boot lid is a gimmick. It might sell well in Russia or China, but I bet the reviews they give it there still say it's ugly. China would buy anything with a BMW badge, so that really means nothing. They're just excited to have BMW period.

And I'm pretty sure BMW doesn't create something like this to meet a small demand in some countries. They always plan to exceed expectations and have a successfull production cycle wherever they release the car. Take this garbage away and give NA the M3 GTS and M3 EVO.

They still make them because people buy them, people will also buy the 3GT, as I said earlier I'm sure BMW would sell a lot more of these in Europe if they dropped in the 4 cylinder diesel, I'd buy one if they did.

these rantings are becoming repetitive, and boring...

i applaud the 5GT owners as forward-thinking and trendsetting individuals. You show good taste in purchasing a vehicle that is not a "one sausage, cut to different lengths" design (3, 5, and 7series sedans). You don't need magazine reviews to decide for you whether to love or hate a car - the same goes for 1series, and X6 owners...
like it or not, these are the owners who are defining and embracing the future of this car brand.

so all you whiners out there, buckle up and enjoy the ride...
