What to ask father marry Daughter

Ok i have been engage for almost a year but her dad does not know it yet... We have been together for almost 6 years and NOW ITS TIME TO ASK HER DAD for hes blessing to marry his daughter... NOW we are planning on getting married next year.

OK a little about hes dad... Hes old Fashion, old and a bit scary and intimidating. BUT he likes me. no problem what so ever... although he is not in the country and rarely comes only visit twice or 3 times a year, now this is going to be a phone call and i know hes expecting me to call...

now im clueless on what to say i know i have to tell him how much i love his daughter and that i will do everything in my power to make her happy...

but im just clueless... any suggestion ....

In all seriousness I had to do this in the fall to her parents who do not speak English so don't try and tell me your situation is difficult. Use your words. Tell him how much she means to you and how happy she makes you and that you would like his permission to marry her. In the great words of Steve Brule, "isss not that hard!"

thanks bro, i guess ill try to just call and say it all instead of having a piece of paper and rehears... maybe its the best way.... well i have about 8 hours to do this...

I just wanted to let you know that I love and care for your daughter very much and she really means the world to me. She makes me happier than anyone ever has which is why I would like to ask you permission to marry her and spend the rest of my life with her.

Its simple. invite him out to dinner one night, just you and him. He may not like that fact that your already engaged for 6 months and didnt tell him... But just ask him for his permission to marry his daughter, and explain to him that your not playing any games. let him know its for real. remember, ask him for his permission, dont tell him. he will appriciate that and blessings will be given.

but do you really want to marry her? how does she look now, compared to her mother? is she going to age well? do you want to wake up next to her 30 years from now? you know how these questions go.

i guess he jumped the gun, or didnt want to ask for permission yet, or maybe forgot alltogether that he had to ask permission first and its kinda late now for take backs lol.

See what his interests are. If he likes Scotch; bring him a nice gold or green Johnny Walker or Glenfiddich Ancient reserve, if he likes Cigars; a nice Monte Cristo or Cubano, if he likes golf; etc. I don't know what kind of relationship you have with him, but it goes a long way sometimes to suck up a bit. Chances are he already knows and is waiting for you to have the balls to tell him and when you do, he will respect you that much more.

WTF! He beat him for what? My ex wife's father was a major dick for the 24 years we were together and it got down right stupid towards the end. In hindsight I should have left long before I did would have saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars in the long run.

Personally tell him simply from the heart as someone else said, if the jack hole assualts you I'd end the engagement right there before things get even worse.

well he does know it but i just have not made it official since we are getting married next year didnt think it was a RUSH.. but lately i have been thinking a lot and i think hes waiting for me, im pretty sure he knows its just i want to do it out of respect.

no backing out needed.. shes a keeper hes not in the US and only visits twice or 3 times a year but its already July and he has not yet been back so i guess its better to do it now...

none of the above exactly he is just waiting i now have an idea on what im gonig to say but even though he knows im still a bit scared...
