Best Exhaust

Here it goes... What\'s the best exhaust for the money? I am going to buy it, and maybe downpipes. I need more power.

check out ARQRAY, its from japan and its pretty nice.. better looking than supersprint.. They have a blue tip if you order the quad(dual) titanium tip.. Also if you want it to be a lil louder than there is the U.S spec available instead of the standard Jap spec.. Im ordering mine soon b4 the next shipment. It takes like 1 mth to get it made and prolly 2 weeks to ship..

What is the approximate cost for the ARQRAY? Do they have a set up for the 2011 535i?

I looked into ACS, where did you end up ordering it from?

My local dealer has a BMW master mechanic that is also certified ACS mechanic. They ordered and installed the product but doubt you will have that access in Illinois.

Best exhaust for your money?

Well that all depends on what you want out of your exhaust. No Cat back system is going to net you truly huge gains on your 535i unless you are running huge amounts of boost. If you are looking to do heavy modding down the line, you can go with a full turbo back system.

My suggestion would be to go with downpipes first. They will give you 15-20 HP on a non chipped car, and up to 30 on a tuned car. Then if you want more sound, go with a muffler. So many options out there. Akarapovic and Eisenmann are a little on the more expensive side, but you won't be disappointed with the sound.

ACS definitely makes quality products and I would also recommend them. You can also consider Remus. Their products are high quality and you may find the price a little more to your liking compared with Akrapovic and Eisenmann

It's a loaded question that is hard to answer, because it depends on what "best" means to you.. Loudest? Best note? Best fitting? Least drone? Most horsepower?

Exhaust preferences are like food preferences. You might love Foie gras.. i can't stand it.

Anyways, if you give us a call and tell us what your driving style and level of audacity is, we will find the right exhaust for you... rather than just selling you what we make the most profit margin on.

If you're on a budget, I have a feeling REMUS will be a great choice for you. But I can't say that for sure until one of our sales reps hears what you're looking for.

Yea they do have a set-up for 535i. I order it from their distributor in CA. You can go to their ENglish web and take a look at which distributor is around your area and call them then go on from there..

So, if my criteria is as follows for the 550:

1) No drone. Period.
2) best note

Which aftermarket ones fit the above.

If you're in the F10 there isn't much out there yet for 550, but I know Remus has a system in the works and they are the best in the business at minimizing drone. If you're referring to E60 feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email and I'll be happy to discuss the options for that application.

^^ 550 F10. I have heard Eisenman Sport has little drone ... not sure that's true or not.

I had dinan exhaust on my E60 535 and the drone around 1000 - 2500 rpm drove me nuts only after 1 week or 2. I had to take it off and sold it for less than 1/2 of what I paid for.

Bobblehead,

Your exhaust requirements are very stringent and it's understable. You simply want the best of both worlds for your 550 as most of us do here.

All I can say is that the Meisterschaft GTC with the valves closed almost feels like I never upgraded my stock exhaust as far as drone is concerned. I'm also turned off with an exhaust if too much drone is present, and that is certainly not the case with such an aggressive system as the Meisterschaft GTC currently on my car.

However, with the valves open it's a different story, since there is a literal transformation of the exhaust notes and feel of the car, including drone. I do want to point out though, that drone is less on the 550 with the Meisterschaft valves open at full blast, than my previous 528i with just the Magnaflow axle back.

The sound of the exhaust is very exotic and deep and I personally think it's the best sounding exhaust I've heard on a 550 F10 to this date (there aren't too many F10 550's with aftermarket exhausts to compare with yet)

Thanks very much for your feedback & insight.

I am in no hurry to do the exhaust change (given there aren't that many choices to choose from). What it really turns me off is simply the drone, perhaps, it's a fact of life but I am hoping somebody out there will make an aftermarket one that is totally bearable.

Mine has no drone at all but at the moment its just a prototype. I will keep you posted in a few weeks when a production model becomes available, be it that its a 535. But I'm sure a 550 version could be in the works in the future.

How did they 'fix' it?
