Jerking transmission

I've had a 550 GT for about a year. Great apart from one thing. Occassionally when pulling away the transmission seesm to hesitate then lurch a bit. Not the sort of smooth take up that usually happens. Seems to be intermitent, but it's a pronounced jerk. Local dealer has been less than helpful. Anyone else had this?

Exactly. Any luck with dealer? Mine tried to blame it on living in a "hilly" area which sounded like bollocks to me

Its my understanding that this, along with the abrupt downshifting at slow speeds, are just the "endearing characteristics" of the ZF 8spd auto transmission. On another note, I was recently a passenger in a Hyundai that was equipped w/ its own in-house 8spd. It did not have any of these "characteristics".

My GT would do it on occaision prior to the DINAN tune - afterwhich the jerkiness was no more.

My 6 doesn't exhibit these characteristics at all. Must be the programming.

Thanks I'll try again with the dealer, but they are absolutely dreadful. Small town in W Canada (Kelowna) with no competition, so they've perfected the take it or leave it attitude

Jerking Trans

I saw this on the F10 form; Tried it on my GT and seems to help.. Just did it yesterday so not sure how long it will last.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!... If your F10 has hesitation or jerks at 0-10 mph
Hi all,

I've been suffering from this hesitation and jerking problem since I got my F10 three months ago. Well, today i stumbled upon a solution in this thread below. I tried it right away, and I have to admit, the accelerator is much smoother now from stop. And I'm a much happier F10 owner now than I was yesterday.

Steps...

1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec
3) then hit start button once to turn off power
4) then remove foot from accelerator
5) then waite for 2 minutes
4) then start the engine like normal and try it out!
