Smile Is it possible to upgrade I drive to the streaming Bluetooth audio

My 550 sedan and 550 GT are virtually the same except my GT does not have the Bluetooth audio streaming feature which I really enjoy in my other two BMWs is it possible given the technology is just about the same to add that feature? It would be awesome if there was an upgrade available for my hard drive system My gt is only a 2010 so it's still pretty recent

I can do it in my 2011...not sure if yours can be updated, but I doubt it's a hardware problem.

BMW told me that it probably was not upgradable because things are super tight with coding and such, and then they acknowledge that it is most likely just a software upgrade but it probably wouldn't be compatible with my car. I just wish they would have and I drive upgrade that would allow for the Bluetooth audio streaming to work in my car that would be nice and I certainly wouldn't mind paying for it,

Hi osxcode,

Do you have any news on this? My 2009 GT has the same problem... I can't believe that BMW is not able to offer an upgrade. We are not talking about support for future iPhones (iPhone 99), I only want to stream music from my old iPhone....

Yes, they do have the upgrade available it is roughly around $1200 and doesn't include an updated map, just the software, and there is some new hardware and a cable that needs to be installed to fully upgrade.

I think you need the Combox for the Bluetooth streaming. The good news is that you can get retrofitted. Check out bimmerretrofit.com
