Just had AR downpipes installed on my 550i by LTBMW (SoCal)

Definite power gains (didnt do before/after dyno tho).
Huge increase in turbo spool sound ...
Small increase in exhaust sound, no real change however, so still a sleeper and A-OK for uptight neighbor(hood)s.

Just DP's installed, no other change to the stock exhaust. So if you want DP's for power gain, and want to remain quiet... definitely go for it.
I may go for exhaust upgrade though to get louder.

LTBMW is great shop to work with in SoCal for TONS of shit.

- body paint
- wheel refinishing / painting / mounting

- paint correction / details
- exhaust
- custom body work (metal / fiberglass)
- reflector fills and paint to match
- full on engine hardware upgrades
- ecu tunes

They get shit done so I'm giving them props.
Going to drop off my Ferrari 458 to have them work on lowering it and doing straight pipe exhaust and ecu tune.

And I'm confused, you want to keep the 550i quiet because of uptight neighbors but you are having your Ferrari fitted with straight pipes??

I never said I wanted to keep it quiet. I said that it WAS STILL quiet, and if you had uptight neighbors, you could still get the downpipes without any worries.

They are catless DP's.

Its the same smell my GTR had, and I don't mind it. Only smell it with windows down at a stop light anyways.

My 550i got the CEL on AR catless downpipes.

Sound is amazing. I could say no increase in exhaust sound, but the whining of the turbos are more audible now. I actually been asked once if I had a supercharger on the car.

Love the whining sound.

Nice. I have an Eisenmann Race on my car w/Dinan tune so wonder what that would sound like. My Eisenmann/Dinan doesn't give me any CEL's so hesitant if the AR downpipes would.

Also what wheels are those on your car? Very nice? Size/fitment?
