2010 528 xi Navigation System
I recently purchased a 2010 528 xi with the navigation system. Although I love this car I don't really like the Nav function. Prior to purchasing this car, I used a portable Garmin for Nav. The Garmin was amazingly accurate anywhere. I wish I could say the same for the BMW Nav system. It doesn't have Chicago addresses that have been the same for 40 years. My questions are, is there anything I can do improve the performance of this Nav system? Is there a firmware update I could load? Should I purchase the $200 software update? Will the new software make a difference? Is there a quick fix that I may have missed? Any help would be appreciated.

That's because the "new" navigation system is a POS. BMW knows it. I have it in my 2010 E61 and my 2011 F10. BMW switched map providers from NavTeq to TeleAtlas. BMW should know they have a problem. They don't seem to care unless you do what I did, threaten a lawsuit, file a Lemon Law claim, and force them to refund money. Unfortunately, you bought yours used, so your remedies are more limited.
