In all transparency, my father drove a E34 for 15 years and never had those issues. My E82 started squeaking after a month...I sold it since then.
I don't understand what's so complicated about not making those car rattle. Japanese car makers achieve build quality, why German can't?
Good engineering shouldn't have to compromise car build quality.

70k kms on a F11 530d, no rattles.
Had a squeak though, came from the lugage compartment rollo.
Some silicon spray on the roller bearings stopped that.
This car is the most silent car I have ever owned.

Yeah... read it on the internet. Just keep it secret that BMW cars can be completely free from rattles and squeaks. We can keep these 'silent' cars for ourselves.

If the cars do rattle, some of it is due to RFTs, the very low profile tires, typically on sport suspension, gives any car a workout on poor roads. BMW haven't helped themselves in that quarter, makes it harder to keep a car silent of rattles and squeaks.
