M6 steering wheel on F10

Anyone ever tried to install the M6 Sports steering wheel with paddle shifters on a F10? Any issues? Thanks.

I want to say it is incompatible electrically. Same reason (I believe) that the M Performance wheel that is optional for the F10 won't work in the F10 M5.

I see F30 M-Sport has similar steering wheels so it will be a pity not being able to retrofit on a F10. It is such a beautiful steering wheel, in my opinion.

I don't see how it's not electrically compatible, seeing that it has same buttons, except M1 and M2 buttons(they would prolly do nothing, at worst you'll have to rewire left portion to match your car). Bigger issue is new airbag = $$$. So as long as your car has paddles, I'd say it's plug & play. you might also need the new cover for steering top & bottom, and depending on where the paddle is attached, new piece that connects all the wires from steering to body.

My source was a product manager at M GmbH. Differences in the LIN bus or something like that.

The F10 M5 will be switching to this steering wheel next year. And it's about $2500-2700 for all of the parts required to do the retrofit.

Modern cars has CAN/LIN BUS which means it's not as easy as it was in the old days to retrofit stuff. Before you could wire and connect your fog lights, trailer hitch and contacts etc. yourself. Today those components have to be coded (programmed) into the cars electrical system in order to work.

So, unless the components and electrical connections etc. are identical between the two steering wheels, it won't work without coding etc.
