M Sport Footrest Install

Hello,

I just got my 535i and have searched all over this forum and the web for a DIY to install the M Sport footrest. I have attached pics of the stock footrest with the lower dash panel (covering the top of the stock footrest) and with the lower dash panel pulled off. The closest install I have seen online was for the 6 series. Whereas both the E90 3 series and E60 5 series appear to have clips with which the footrests fit into, the 6 series and F10 5 series footrests look like they are glued onto the carpet. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I hope someone has accomplished this without using a crow barů Any help is much appreciated. Also, please excuse the pics if they are larger than usual.

Thanks in advance!

Did you ever figure this out? I figured it would be straightforward. I just ordered it. Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks

I was right that the F10 footrest is glued to the carpet. I recently took my car in for service and had BMW do it for me. The only solution I have seen online is to use a crow bar. I did not want to try that. It appears that BMW really did not want us to be able to switch out the footrest easily.

My body shop did it for me. Looks great. Don't know what they did though.

Yes, BMW did charge me for it. The purchase + install price ended up being more than I expected in the end. If you choose to buy it, I would suggest you find an independent shop that will agree to do it for a reasonable price. They should be able to quote you a ballpark price if you show them the pictures above. At least that way you know what your getting into.

I installed one to 2011 f10 535i. I had an aftermarket 4 pedal sets from ebay. The black rubber was too soft for that ebay set ( not BMW OEM and it was cheap, around $60. ) The issue is the rubber wear out so fast and it generate black residual to mess up carpet. See how black my carpet in the picture... ( if I can get it uploaded )

I took them all away. Get new BMW OEM rubber feet for clutch and brake pedal. Get an OEM M-Sport footrest. Part# 51477960700

The original footrest was glue/pinned on carpet. I decide to install on top of it. Since they are in the same size... it won't align to left edge ... also there is a slot on top for the under dash piece to insert to it.

So I use dremel cut the top and right side of the original around half inch... Then just use double side tape to stick it.... looks perfect...
