___DIY - Heat Shield For BMS Intake - 535i

***Intake and Heat Shield now for sale - Just sold the 535 for 550 over the weekend!

Updated-----REV. 2

Removed the original duct installation and painted with high temp spray paint for a cleaner look. The following items was used:

-sheet metal 26 gauge 12"x24"
-10" metal cutting snips
-3M tape
-high temp spray paint
-rubber tube seal along the top (not shown)

The shield was cut from a single 12x24 sheet metal into two separate pieces, parts A is outline in RED and B in GREEN (see pic).

The overall size of the shield is 10.25"x11" with the height of 3.75" in the back tapering down to 2.5" in front.

Part A is taped to part B with 3M tape (test fit first). I made the shield to fit the inside of the stock intake box, there is a little edge that runs along the inside. Next was to spray it with high temp paint and place the rubber seal along the top and in the back around the BMS intake housing.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Excellent idea. Can you briefly list your parts and what you did.

Any pics of the finished product? You should spray paint it or plastidip in black so that it doesn't look so out of place.

Thanks
