Seat making noises

I feel like I am sitting on an antique chair. Every time I hit the gas, make right or left or hit the brakes, this seat makes noise.

Driving me nuts. I took the car in twice for service . All they have done is to tighten the bolts to specs. Apparently bolts are not the problem. Here's the part that makes it hard to detect and fix. When I move the seat forward or back, sounds go away for a few days. It comes back eventually.

My wife says turn up the volume. I say I paid $65k for this car and it should not make this type of old furniture noises. Am I being unreasonable ? Anyone had a similar problem?

Yup (regarding me having a similar problem).

My seat back would creak upon acceleration, which turned out to be a broken weld in the frame. Had it replaced under warranty, and all is well.

Are you being unreasonable? Not at all...

Maybe have the dealer test drive it and hear it themselves.

You are correct, a 65K car should not do that! You need to be very forceful (but politely so) with the dealer. I had a similar problem with my old CPO X5. Turned out it was a defective seat frame which was going to cost me thousands to fix, even though it started within the warranty period.

Its most likely the seat belt buckle (the snap in part attached to the seat bottom) rubbing against the seat. Put some felt around the part where it rubs against the seat and the problem is gone.

How do I know this? Well, I drove with a BMW tech to make them listen to my sunroof making noise, and this new noise popped up and we were able to detect it right then. BMW put felt on the buckle. So much for a 5 series

Have you checked under the seat for anything stuck there? I'd assume they would have. In a previous car, I had a similar problem - ended up being solved by just raising the seat UPWARD a tad. There were some wires and such under the seat that were rubbing. Comes to mind as you're saying it goes away if you move it front or back - try up 1/4 inch.

I love the F/10, however, I am frankly a bit disheartened by the number of rattles and squeaks that develop in these vehicles.

My new 2015 550 has been in twice for the same irritating squeak/rattle directly above my head in the headliner. They claim there is no such rattle.

I can replicate the squeak by pushing on the headliner with my hand. Looks like I'll have to take it in again and drive a mechanic around to show him.

Not at all, "turn up the volume" is not what you want to do at this price point Hope you sort it all out soon.

Can't be fun on a brand new car. The annoying thing is repeatedly having to convince service department issue is there. Sure it might seems like a "minor issue" to them, but they should expect owners of these cars to be somewhat "in tune" with their cars and demand perfection, or as close as they can get to it. I mentioned this to shop foreman recently (after finally proving there is an issue that I brought up 4 months ago and 3 other visits since). Each time I got "cannot reproduce" until I insisted he comes on a test drive with me.
