When you download a CD onto the car's hard drive . . .

Is it a lossless process, or is it compressed in a fashion similar to an IPod?

Thanks,

Bill

The car automatically downgrades the quality of the tracks as I have noticed. Someone else could chime in if I am mistaken.

I guess the other half of my question is whether the answer is different if you load in music via the USB connection in the armrest?

if you use usb in the armrest (usb stick) its whatever format you have on your USB stick, I think think this is the easiest method of listening to music IMHO.
You can use WAV, WMA (lossless) and MP3 (320 and less) , what ever you prefer.

I personaly use WMA lossless but get no artwork - but it doesn't bother me.
