Talking Followed Suit...Blue M Calipers!

Have to give props to other members for forging the way and for all the input I received on doing these calipers. All in all not a terribly difficult thing to do. Did it this afternoon in my garage. Turned out pretty damn good IMHO!


In case you guys are wondering....

-Used VHT Caliper Degreaser, Bright Blue Caliper Paint, and Caliper Clear Coat.
-Vinyl M decals came off ebay

We started at noon and had the wheels back on by 4. My buddy and I took our sweet ass time and had a few beers so you could prolly do it faster but who cares.


Most of it is prep work. To me taping off properly and covering the car to avoid over spray is most important part. After that it's just dry time between coats. Did 2 of color and 2 clear with 20 min between each.

That's how I feel too!! I'd rather pay someone else to do it for me, I've been known to botch an otherwise simple task.

Looks super clean. I'm thinking about doing it. Did you purposely choose a darker blue than the M5 calipers?

No I didn't. Would have liked them to be a little lighter too. But that's the closest VHT had to the M blue color. I'm sure a shop could color match something but I went the homegrown route instead.

Wow Bud you have done this sooooo well. I'm amazed at the thoroughness in your prep work to ensure no overspray. Totally professional for a DYI. How the hell did you get between the brake housing and the rotors?

Actually used a the head of a small standard screwdriver to push business cards into the little gaps (you can kinda see the grey and red biz card in 1st pic) . Worked really well. Then just painters tape and the garbage bags that we cut open at the seams.

Came out hot. Cleans up the oem calipers real good before they start to look rusty.

It took me about 2 hours all around but I was hauling ass trying to install a bunch of stuff at the same time

Yeah I saw yours. Looks good! Almost went black on mine too but wanted them to stand out a little from the black body.
