Looks a lot like http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/specs.php
I gotta say, $425 + install to get that sound seems a lot cheaper than buying an after market dual/quad exhaust setup. |

Yeah, this is definitely aftermarket. It's not just a flap that opens within the muffler to make it louder (like in a corvette), these valves bypass the mufflers all together. Check out my buddies build thread, you can see his install and videos for his exhaust cut-outs.

Figure ~$300 for the electronic cut out + $~300 for a good exhaust shop to do the install. $600 is still way cheaper then an axel back system for the F10. I think this just might be my first mod.

No thanks, why not just put glass packs on there
Better yet buy a better exhaust, I bet Eisenmann will have a great set coming

What kind of change in power would one expect when the flap is opened?

For the same aforementioned reasons... $$$ You can bet a decent cat-back system for the 550i will start at $1,600. With cutouts you're saving yourself $1,000+ and retain the stock look while getting the rumble. Look at all the guys doing muffler deletes on their 335i's, you'll get pretty much the same effect with cutouts.
