iPod and apple cable

Has anybody else had problems with a iPod touch when it is connected to the USB with the apple cable. I can get it to work in the car I have to use a bmw y cable but then you get no album artwork?

There iPod? Where iPod?

Do you have professional media or business media? If professional you should not use a Y cable; a straight USB cable will suffice:

Yes I do have the pro nav and my iPod will not work if I connect it to the car with the white apple lead in the USB in the armrest will only work with the y cable I was lead to believe that you did not need to use the y cable when they add the combox to the I drive a couple of years ago

You need option 6FL and Professional Media, not just pro nav.

I have the Professional Media package code ZGC and 6FL but I have to use the Y cable and no images are displayed. If I use an MP3 player I can see the image and only need to use the USB. Car recognises an IPOD or IPAD when connected.

Wondering if there is a setting somewhere I need to set, or perhaps my Y cable is faulty.

The image I posted is from an iPod touch using a standard USB cable, not the Y cable.

I am making progress, with my IPAD it's now working through single USB cable, it displays images and plays music. I changed cables so perhaps that was the issue.

Also installed BMW app on it and all that is working

The IPOD I have is a Nano 2nd generation, it only plays through the Y cable and does not display images. I think given the age of the IPOD that's fair enough.

I really must buy an Iphone.

How old is your car?

I think some 2010 models do need the Y cable. Later cars work fine with just the standard Apple USB cable.

No F10 with 6FL need the Y cable - the problem is the age of your iPod.

Thought id jump into the melee. I have a mid 2011 build with phone apps prep. And i can plug in my iphone 5 and play music jus like above. I can also view text messages. (ios 6.1)

Does anyone know why some songs on my usb wont play? They are all mp3s. The ones that dont play clearly have a period and a dash added to beginning of title. Error messages also come up then goes to next song.
