I don't think they would introduce lines also. It just doesn't make sense on the 5-Series since it already has a target/specfic market where as the 3-Series, BMW wants it to be the car for everyone hence the ability to customize, giving it that fun aspect to owning one.

I bet they will intro Lines on the F10. Just keeps things consistent with the F30. Maybe they only offer Luxury/Sport/M-sport. Apparently, Modern line doesn't do so well with the F30. Either way, offering lines just adds profit for BMW. So why wouldn't they?

These pics are a bit dubious to me. Although the LCI is expected to be minor, the changes shown even less. For example, at a minimum, you'd expect that the side markers would at least be moved from the sides of the body to the side mirrors. They have been on all new models and LCIs. The spy pics showed the side marker area and the side mirrors covered with tape, further reinforcing the expected change. But this car doesn't even have that.

I wonder . . .

BMW probably could but I just don't see it fitting in with the identity of the 5-Series. The sport (ZSP) and the M-Sport (ZMP) are already packages so I'm not too sure why they would make them into lines for the LCI. By default, I think most see the base 5er as a luxury car anyway (in comparison to the E60 5er). The only way I see BMW introducing lines on the 5-Series is if they plan to/or want to increase the price by the amount of any of the packages, then it would make sense to just charge that by default.

Guess we'll see what happens when BMW announces the LCI.

What makes people think that the facelift will bring a new look to the M-sport Package?

The E36 "LCI" kept the same M-sport bumpers.
The E46 "LCI" kept the same M-sport bumpers. (Partially true, M-tech 2 was a new design for the sedan, but it was introduced already on Pre-Facelifts.)
The E39 "LCI" kept the same M-Sport bumpers.
The E60 "LCI" kept the same M-sport bumpers.
The E87 "LCI" kept the same M-sport bumpers.

As for the E30/E34, I'm a bit uncertain? I believe the only car which facelift brought a new design to the M-package was the E90 (which wasn't very good looking before its facelift IMO) and to some extent the E70, although very minimal. Or have I forgotten about any? I'm hoping for a redesigned M-package but I'm doubtful. Have we seen any leaks/info suggesting it? Perhaps Scott knows more than we do..?

Why do you think they can't be retrofitted? New front bumper, headlights, taillights, rear bumper, and wheels are all you need if you want to update the appearance of your F10 (steering updates and the new engine are a different story altogether). I know plenty of people who retrofitted E60s, E90s, E92s, and other models.

While that's true, every car since then has received an updated look to its M-Sport model after an LCI. The E9X 3-series, X5, X6, and F01 7-series had subtle changes to their M-Sport bumpers, so it's only logical to assume that the F10 M-Sport will receive a similar update.

Better steering feel? Please elaborate, very curious.

MB did it with the e-class. It won't be surprising BMW would follow suit.

I just ordered a 535i M Sport that will begin production sometime next month. If the front bumper on the LCI looks like the picture that started this thread I am glad to take a pass on it.

The grille in the picture looks a lot like a 7 series, and not in a good way.

By any measure, this seems to be a very minor refresh, at least on the other side. Nothing like the facelift that the E-class just received.

And that's how it usually is, unless there was a serious issue with the model. The F10 has been selling very well, so no reason to change things too much.

As for the steering, given the article by C&D and other circumstantial evidences, it seems the EPS is not the only culprit. Most likely the front suspension is just not set up to provide the traditional BMW steering feel. So I wouldn't hold my breath on the steering revision, but I would be happy to be wrong.

Well you ordered the Msport ...your lower bumper wouldn't look like that anyhow.....

It is "minor" because you don't drastically change something that is selling like crazy...

BMWs (and a lot of other cars) have extra chrome in China because Chinese buyers like it. Look at the pictures in the original post, even the pre-LCI 5 series has those ridiculous chrome strips going up its A pillar which we don't have in the rest of the world.
