The first uncovered F10 5 Series LCI facelift/update was spotted last week, but it was captured in some less than ideal quality photos. Our new spy photos, taken at an official BMW photoshoot, give us a clear look at the F10 LCI's front fascia. What's confirmed once again is that the styling updates are rather minor.

Overall, the F10 LCI styling changes give the 5 Series a more updated and sportier appearance. The 2014 5 Series receives sleeker and sportier looking headlights, optional LED headlights with squared-off angel eyes / corona rings (as equipped on this model). The front bumper has also receives updates via the new creases extending from the inside corners at the top of both headlights, a restyled lower front bumper with new trim, and kidney grilles with a bend/kink. Also, the strong line extending from inside of the headlights down towards the bottom of the front bumper has been softened/removed in the LCI model.

The new chrome trim in the lower front bumper may or may not indicate that the 5 Series will be receiving different 'Lines" a la the F30 3 Series.

Mechanically, the F10 LCI will receive reworked steering, and the 550i will come with the more powerful N63Tu engine (445hp / 480 lb-ft).

Production for the F10 LCI as beginning in July 2013, with deliveries starting in August/September of 2013.

UPDATED WITH IMAGE FROM AUTOZEITUNG MAGAZINE COVER.

Possibly just be a render based on the latest spy photos. The lower bumper lip doesn't fully reflect the change seen on the latest spied F10 LCI.

Subtle changes, adding an extra 45 HP to the 550 is nice. Slight tune can squeeze out another 100 HP.

I still wonder why is it that only the 550 gets the power boost. Any plans for the 535?

I don't like how they have softened up the lines beside the grilles. And that new line looks very random. I think they should have continued it to the kidneys.

Overall its meh, like every other BMW under Van Hooydonk.

Its not so random. They added that line from the headlights to the grille because they want a better transition into the next 5-series model, which will most likely have the headlight-grille connection feature that were seeing on all the new models now.

Looks now more like the F30. Great... one more car to look alike in the BMW fleet. For non-BMW-lovers it becomes more and more difficult to differentiate their cars by looks these days (not as bad as Audi though). The E60, E90, E87, and E65/66 all looked unique back then.

Is it just me or did the headlights just got smaller?

No liking it so far.

IMO the headlights right now is the perfect size. Smaller headlights makes it look too dopy.

The pre LCI looks much better IMO. The update isn't proportional and looks cheap.

I like the sharper headlights but the new bumper is ugly.

BMW's L-ife C-ycle I-mpulse is more like Mid Life Crisis

i think small changes are cool so pre-LCI owners dont feel their car is outdated. I would be upset if i bought a 55.000 euros car thats getting visually outdated after 3 years.

I think the LCI looks not bad and as someone had pointed prior, needs time to get used to

I don't like the larger gap between the headlights and the hood. It makes it look like the hood isn't closed all the way. I like the lower bumber more than the current version (less of a smiley face look), but still not as much as the M Sport bumber. I'm glad I ordered a 2013.... even without the TU engine.

Well, I have admit that BMW's LED headlight don't look as good as Audi's LED headlights, in fact they look similar to halogens...

Pre-LCI looks better in the opinion of this Architect. The extra crease from the headlights toward the grill looks awful and overly fussy. The top 2/3 of the front fascia should have been left alone. The bottomr third on LCI is OK. The front of the LCI looks dismal. It is an incoherent jumble of ideas now with a whiff of this idea and a whiff of that idea that is unrelated. It is the worst front design on a BMW in the BMW current line up. I may look at an Audi A7 since it is so bad.
