Hi all i recently notice my adaptive headlight error come on. Sighs!!!!. Halo and indicator on the right front side of the car is not working everything else seems just fine. After some research in figure it might be the module. to be certain i switch the modules and that cause the issue to occur and on the left. Bingo 100% sure its the module now. Now to the hard part

My BMW is a 2011 production date 535i x drive that comes with the Xenon and adaptive headlight. 522 and 524 options. I mainly purchase parts from FCP euro and rockauto.

The part# on my damage module is 7304952 atleast i think that is it.. When doing a search on this i keep getting module with the part# 63117316217. Fcp and rockauto has an OEM for 600+ and a URO Brand for 200 and then you have you ebay ones. I try to stick to OEM as much as possible but with what i have seen unless i am 100% sure the module would work i am unwilling to buy the OEM for that price also would i have to code the OEM part as well?. Can anyone maybe shed some light on this. Much Thanks

Hi all,

Earlier this year I completed the repair of my N55 and have been driving it for about 20,000km since then and I would like to share some of the experience and cool engine pictures I took. And also offer my thanks to this forum for helping me by being tagged in google. Many times I would reference posts here, and on other forums to find out key information that I needed.

anyways, the story goes something like this. I bought a f10 N55, 2012 xdrive in 2024, the engine crapped itself, dash board lit up with all kinds of errors. I actually didn't even notice something was wrong until that happened, and also I was doing an alternator replacement at the time because there were some weird electrical issues I was having, and I noticed my alternator was outputting over 15v.

During the alternator change, I saw some weird shiny particles in the intake manifold. Weird, isnt there an air filter? yea, it was coming from my turbo compressor side. The entire compressor was destroyed and sending metal shrapnel into my engine.

I stopped driving it and stored it over the winter. The next summer, summer of 25', I started working on repair. I spent the winter planning and buying parts and tools. This is my first mechanical project so I had to do alot of research and took my time with everything I did.

First I wanted to open the oil pan to see if it was salvageable. After using my judgement and determining the damage to my crank and internals was not too serious, I flushed out as much dirt and particles as I could, replaced rod bearings, new turbo core, put it all back together and sent it. It is still driving well and there has not been any more metal in the oil since then. I checked many obvious spots as well like vanos and such for metal bits, they were in there...anyways, here are some images...

I also have a more detailed write up of the process on my github pages, not sure if im allowed to link it. Not selling anything or doing anything commercial so I will for now, please be nice to me if I am wrong. here is the full details with more images, cost breakdown, and my thought process during the project: https://kaiwen-z.github.io/car-repair-blog.html

cheers.

btw the turbo core I used was a $79 USD replica from alibaba which hilariously is still working great after 20,000km. I will see how long this lasts! For the CHRA alignment...I did it by eyeball...same with the wheel alignment after refitting subframe...that was eyeball too. So far so good, fingers crossed.
