I downloaded the file, put it on a FAT32 USB drive and tried to install it. I got a failure saying something about the file not being compatible with the vehicle. Any ideas??

Did you make sure the file was in the root of the USB drive? When I downloaded the file it looked like I had a folder and the .bin files. I put both on the drive and it worked fine for me.
Any idea what "add-on" is referring to? The BMW update file only explains media and telephone versions.
