Firstly, dont give up so easily. You are close enough on mileage where BMW may do it for you. If dealer says no, call corporate and push nicely. Remember this was extended warranty from BMW for this known issue! It doesn't matter if you bought is used or from someone else. Btw, they will ask you for service records and oil changes (which you should have). Here is the SIB number:

On its own, changing the timing chain and guides would be a $4k job, but if it killed your engine you are looking at $8k for a new one.
