So I have a BMW F10 and my question is simple. Do I need to turn on the AC button when I'm using the heat? Recently I had radiator fan issue and someone told me that it happened coz I never turned on my ac button while using heat?? They said I need to keep the AC button on at all times. Is it true and why?
You don't 'need' the A/C switched on to run heat. If you want full climate control, including dehumidifying, you do need it switched on. Many users simply leave it on and let it do its job. Cabin can be more comfortable and set without having heating/cooling extremes.

There is concern that if you don't run the A/C, there can be issues with premature failure/leaks due to not being used regularly.

Latest HVAC systems are not so energy hungry, like older systems. Variable output compressors mean fuel penalties are not of any real concern, when demands are low.
