Acura? I don't think they sell as much as BMW. Maybe Lexus. Not to bash other brands but 2025-2026 Consumer Reports rated Subaru #1 but oddly BMW was like a half point behind at #2. BMW was ranked #1 luxury brand.
Is Consumer Reports that great at what they do? They supposedly survey about 380,000 readers.
My relatives loves Acura and Toyo. Neighbor across the street had Acura MDX SUV. Major engine problems and they maintain there stuff. They bought an X3.
My mechanic is honest, fair prices and good. He does not really like BMW cause he worked at the dealership. My wife has a 320i, very few problems.
He has not seen my X5 yet.
He is a Toyota worshiper. He is in a bad depression because the new/newish V6 turbo Toyo engines in their trucks including Lexus have major problems He talked to people at dealership and they will not take them in trade! I have a relative that had a Toyo Sequoia blow up. A new one. The engine crashed. Sadly, they bought another one.
A lot of the great bulletproof names like Honda and Toyota are having issues with turbo engines. I would buy Mazda or Subrau. Loads of neighbors have Korean SUV's (Kia-Hyundai-Genesis). Bad engines. They also have GMC-Caddy pickups SUVs same issues. One wealthy idiot bought a Grand Wagoneer which I think they dumped.
Audi has serious problems. They have the worst reliability of German brands even below VW. Audi is not spending any money to upgrade models. VAG-Porsche lost insane amounts of money on EVs too.
Mercedes? The reliability is worse than BMW and the model line up, to me, is uninspiring. Porsche? Mega headaches from EVs. 4 doors and SUVs are bleh. People want gas powered sports cars from Porsche. The whole allocation to get a 911 angers people. I would like a 911 T with manual 6 speed but the 911 has become bloated. Porsche parts make BMW's look cheap.
BMW makes mistakes. They should have a $1,000 upgrade to replace all the plastic sh*t with aluminum. However, they still have a dynamic lineup of models that appeal to sporty and luxury buyers.
