I do have a 3G connection because I get real-time traffic, weather, and other app services. It's just the remote services that don't work. BMW says they have some kind of hugely tangled server issue and the problems are not consistent across cars. Some work 100%, some have some services and not others, etc.

I understand that these are complex issues, but four months seems like way too long to resolve something of this nature. And there's still no date on when it will be fixed. Crazy.

I guess I need to keep perspective! Being in a position to complain about how I can't remotely lock my 550i from my smartphone is definitely a first world issue.
