I have asked BMWNA via email about other models in the past and they have basically no answer. Once they didn't even understand my question and thought I was referring to the brake lights being red. It would make sense if they at least did it across the whole range like Audi does, but they pick certain models to change it on. For example, the LCI 6 series gets amber LEDs, yet the LCI 5 series (E60) don't.

With the NHTSA potentially changing the standard to mandate amber turn signals (http://www.regulations.gov/search/Re...HTSA-2009-0095), it makes sense to keep the signals amber anyways.

The odd thing is, most average consumers don't care or even notice anyways, so it should be up to the vehicle manufacturer to take care of the safety issues. At some point, someone must have decided at BMWNA that red signals "look" better - that aspect must apparently override any safety issues.
