another possible reason (though no cure)
Think I'm right in saying that if you put it in first, the gearbox changes to 1st gear. I thinkin comfort it starts in second?
If that's the case, perhaps it just down to a resonant frequency
just a wild guess and based upon the fact that my E39 started in second unless you moved the gear lever to M/S in which case you could feel it change to first to ensure a more spritely start.
All pure conjecture on my part , could be 100% wrong on that!
