Consumer Reports has a few problems with the new 5
The latest Consumer Reports liked the new 5-er a lot, but had some concerns regarding the handling and suspension. They say, "the new electric steering doesn't transmit feedback well. The car is impressively planted on bumpy corners. At the track, it adhered to the chosen line well enough and proved secure. However, when pushed to its limits, understeer was pronounced and its compromised front grip robbed capability and driver confidence. This reduced the car's speed through our avoidance maneuver."
I don't agree with that sentiment exactly. However, I am having another issue on my 2011 550i they noted. They continue, "But some sharp bumps can reverberate throughout its structure." I have had a similar issue with the suspension on my 2011 550i. When I go over a "ledge" in the road, say an inch or so drop, the rear wheels make a loud thud and it feels like the car is bottoming out. It is very unnerving. Granted, I don't want a Lexus ride, but this is a bit much. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Suggestions?
