Used both? No. But R2 non-runflat in 18" are my winter tires right now starting last winter. I think they paid for themselves in the 1-2 period around Christmas.
I have gone non-runflat for both winter and summer and have a Slime Smart Spair kit in the trunk (a much less expensive version of the BMW mobility kit).
I may get the spacesaver spare at some point, just hasn't been a priority.
I think they announced the R3 in January 2018, you might want to look for those too.
