I've heard that. After almost 80K miles that has not been my experience. I think the 7-Series (mainly the electronics) and V8's (well, we know why) are why (mainly) non-owners say BMW's are money pits (to quote a hack of a mechanic with over 51 years experience and a $4K scan tool on YouTube).
