I don't know if I agree with that. It's not like Audi is Saab trying to breach the luxury market. Ever since the unintentional acceleration incidents--which ended up being user-related--people are quick to write Audi off as second tier. Whether the S6 and the 550i xDrive have anything to do with each other, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are all German and they are each built to the same standards. What we have is Audi entering a performance category it was previously unable to keep up with. Now that the company has a real, proven contender, people make excuses that Ingolstadt doesn't have the same caché as the guys over in Munich and Stuttgart.
