I agree with OnlyGerman. I've worked at BMW for 3 years now and during this time I've yet to see an N55 needing valve seals. N63s YES, TONS... but no N55.

what is more likely (based only on the fact that I've seen it happen) is that if the injectors had failed in the open position, the fuel could washdown the cylinder walls and this could in turn cause scoring on the walls. leading to burning oil and loss of compression.
