Guess this can happen if you don't wash wheels too long. Just switched my summers back on.

oh wow! my wheels are protected with Dr Beasley's wheel sealant so that the dirt and brake dust doesn't stick to my wheels and comes off very easily when I wash the wheels. have you tried any of the Chemical Guy's wheel cleaners?
