Old 535i has evolved into the new F10 535i, so I don't consider as a competition.
From Car and driver comparison test with M37 and A6
535i had the best 0-60 MPH (5.4 seconds)
Quarter mile was best at 14.0 seconds (M37 also had 14.0 seconds)
Skid pad was 0.86g (M37 had 0.82g, A6 had better 0.88g)
Braking 70-0 was at 163 ft (M37 was 171 feet and A6 was 161 feet)
So new 535i definitely performed better than M37 in handling and almost same as A6 and we all know these numbers are much better than MB E350.
That's why I say 535i is still the best in performance against the current competition.
