Are you talking about the long piece that goes all the way down to the bottom of the windshield? If so I didn't take it off. I just wrapped it where it is and tucked it in between the lines. And covered the pop pup pieces of the roof rails along the way. I'm never gonna use it. Lol. And for the door frame. I only went in about half an inch at the most. I wouldn't worry to much about getting far in there. It's gonna give you a lot of headache. Lol.
