Heres what i figured i would do. I was going to take the BMW to AutoZone and have them read the voltage with the ignition off and with the ignition on. If the reading is in-line with that attachment you provided, then I know the battery is good. I was then going to drive back home and disconnect the battery to perform your "drain" procedures above.
