Good questions. Regarding my satisfaction with the up-size, I was quite happy with the result. It smoothed out the ride a touch (a nice thing when you are running run-flat tires) and it provided a bit of safety on rough winter roads. It did cause some minor clearance issues however, when I lowered the car (on ACS springs) so that I ended up replacing the winter tire/wheel combo with a stock-sized set.

Regarding the speedometer, it did not correct itself. Rather, it was already reading higher than reality. I have read on this forum that BMW speedometers read, on average, 5% higher than reality. With the three BMWs I've owned, I can state that my experience matches this observation. So, when I over-sized my tires (which worked out to about a 4% increase in overall diameter and circumference) the speedometer became more accurate. Go figure!
