My 2010 F10 520D started with a clatter yesterday morning so I took it to my local BMW specialist and it transpires that the tensioner had broken and the chain is very loose and stretched.

I now have to fork out £1500-£1700 for the repair as BMW say my model is not affected by the fault.

And my used car warranty won't pay out as they say it's not a mechanical failure (how they conclude to this I have no idea)

Sad times.
