It varies depending on model (eg 3 or 5 series) and country. Most F11 535is got PWG all the way to the end of their production in 2017 for example.
The PWG N55 is their Euro 5 emission engine. In countries that don't require Euro 6, they often just keep going with the PWG.
I was very dissappinted to discover my 4/2014 build was PWG. I was hoping to not have to upgrade the turbo.
