Btw, I just got mine replaced just under warranty by a few days. Mine didn't blow up like yours, but I heard the whine that let me to believe this was the issue.

74K miles, and purchased 3 years ago from outside dealership. So I think I'm TOAST on the warranty.
But this is good input. I'm sure costly repair if even possible....
