M5 is on a complete other level in terms of sporty driving, dynamics! 
For the european market these v8 petrol engines have a very low level of sales so BMW offered the wright alternative (M550d)! 
Everything is done by taking into account the prices for fuel, the cost of the final product and the benefits: it's clear that for the moment these diesel engine cars can t have a very good price in US so BMW will just waste money trying to adapt these cars for NA market! |
So BMW still needs to come out with a diesel that corresponds to the M5.
