I own a 2012 535i with a basic M sport heated steering wheel w/o paddle shifters. I am trying to find good info on this topic and keep striking out. I want to upgrade the steering wheel to the nicer/sportier steering wheel with paddle shifters and heat. I have come across numerous DIY's across the internet and forum, but nobody addresses which OEM steering wheel compatibility.
Should I only be looking at heated steering wheels that came on the M5? M3? 335i F10? What years of which?
Yes, I know about single vs dual stage airbags if I were to buy one from overseas and having to code for single stage and I know about having to code the car for paddle shifters.
I found a nice 2018 M3 steering wheel with heat and have no clue whether I'm going to run into harness issues or not?
Just hoping someone else can shed a little light on this for me.
