That caravan definitely parked next to you on purpose to piss you off. I don't bother parking at the far end of the lot for exactly this reason. I just choose to park on the end of the aisle where I can straddle the outer line and maximize as much space as possible from an adjacent parked cars door. Most people don't realize you are trying to avoid doors dings and don't go out of their way to piss you off.
