I think it's very hard to diagnose and therefore many owners, lots of us included, put up with it.

Sorry James but if it were me, it would go back to stealers till it was fixed end of.
Never had that on the three F10's I've had over the years, the 550i and LCI M5 and now this 535d M Sport all have been faultless TBH.
