Why only equip vehicles with Acoustic pedestrian protection with a fake engine sound generator?
I also do not dispute the ASD in the post from
Sliverxy as realoem shows the kit in the M5.

Notably, the same realoem model also has the option for the VSG as well as the ASD.

Why I am puzzled is my F10 535d 2015 does not have an ASD, only the VSG (as an option, which I did not get so my car does not have it), which IMHO,as per the above, is not the thing that generates fake engine noise in any case.

Here it links to all the models with it:

If you click on the F10 link, you can see only the M5 and M550dx get it.

On the F11, it's only the M550dx.
There's also this post here, which appears to corroborate my observations.

In other words, realoem says there is no ASD on a 535d. Either way, I'm not that bothered, it doesn't sound too bad from where I sit.
