When I lived in Orange County I took my BMW to Black Forest BMW in Costa Mesa. He is the most honest and candid mechanic I’ve met. He makes it a point not to try to make bank on the cost of parts to you, and is reasonable on service costs.
He was a long time BMW dealership mechanic... and finally left years ago out of frustration of them ripping people off. It’s just him and his step-son there, and they are terrific.
Note: I moved away from OC in 2012 so its been a few years.
