Kombi and ICM is for visual stuff, but you also have to code transmission ECU for the faster shifts.
On a bmw f10 lci with EDC to add sport transmission I just went to EGS and set sport transmission to active. This also added sport+ with visualisation in KOMBI and instead DS shows gear number.
On the other hand on my f30 pre lci I have sport auto from factory and coded it to regular the same way. This only made shifting in sport a bit less agressive(without kick in the back) and when I accelerate and release the gas pedal the car shifts to higher gear and doesn't hold 3500-4000 rpm like before. When using kickdown it still holds gear longer.
The other stuff like sport+ and shift paddles is working like before. So it depends on the year and model, I guess, how the modules are coded from factory and what have to be done.
Bimmercode was used.
